Where should speeches or a toast go in the evening?
Right after dinner is served and before the energy shifts toward music and dancing, once guests are fed and settled but before they are ready to be up and moving. Placing speeches too late, after dancing has already started, tends to lose the room's attention and makes the transition back to a seated moment feel awkward.
How long should speeches or awards run?
Twenty to thirty minutes total is a reasonable target for most celebrations, split across a small number of speakers with an agreed time each. Longer than that risks losing guests' attention, especially later in the evening when the natural next step in their minds is dancing, not more sitting and listening.
How early should we lock the guest count for catering?
